The eagerly anticipated movie Julie and Julia may focus on cooking, but one unsung hero of the film is the humble cooking blog. In a sense, the motion picture not only transmits Julia Child's advice to not fear cooking, but also to aspiring bloggers to not fear writing in cyberspace.
This motion picture does not only focus on Child's work, life and rise to fame, but also Julie Powell who made the decision to learn how to cook and add the flavor of social media to her endeavor.
For those who don't know, Powell cooked her way through Child's book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking and blogged about every recipe.
While her actions may or may not have inspired other social media-hungry foodies, there are certainly a lot of food blogs and sites on the web that are experiencing more attention.
As Mashable writer Josh Catone recently admitted, his first list of 15 foodie sites for the blog didn't quite cover all the top pages. He thus felt it necessary to include a second collection.
From blogs, to food news sites, to social networking community message boards such as FoodCandy.com, it seems that food fans are happily creating their own internet niche.
