The music application iLike, which has a working relationship with facebook, is now coming to the iPhone for those who love up-to-the-minute music information.
The iLike Local Concerts application will give its user personalized concert information depending on what tunes he or she has on their iPhone. Basically, the app scans the music already on the device and presents the listings that match the artists.
Users can also choose whether or not they want to receive instant notifications when a concert is announced near them, in a way similar to how Facebook notifies those who choose to use iLike through there.
Singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson explains that she 'truly appreciates this direct connection that I now have to fans' through the new app.
Around 300,000 independent and higher-profile artists are already connected up to this program. On top of that, this new app will be offered free to iPhone users.
Arists also have the opportunity to create their own apps to be used with the Local Concerts app and this allows them to send content straight to fans.
