Drink liquor with your Facebook chums

An American distillery has decided to mix the worlds of hard drinking and social networking to celebrate the life of a man who died early last century.

Jack Daniel's has initiated a month-long online birthday party in honor of its founder. 'Toast Jack' will give internauts a chance to pour themselves a glass of brown liquor and chink glasses virtually via Facebook.

'Birthdays and Jack Daniel's by their very nature bring people together, so social media seemed like a natural means of reaching our many friends,' said Mark Grindstaff, JD's marketing director. 'For Jack Daniel's birthday, we've developed two unique, fun and simple applications to give everyone 21 and older a way to celebrate on their social networks.'

So it works like this: the Facebook application scans your friends and finds everyone 21 or older. They're then categorized as 'the musical friend' or 'the mysterious friend' and are sent a toast tailored to their profile. Their friends can see the toast on their wall, and the viral marketing begins.

Facebook currently has more than 250 million users. The average Facebooker has 120 friends, according to the website's stats page.ADNFCR-2087-ID-19351935-ADNFCR
