Jajah is a Californian communications company that launched its free service on September 17, according to Computerworld. It's called Jajah@call and it allows tweeters to have two-minute conversations with others, whether the individuals are acquaintances or not.
People interested in using the service will need to be registered users of both Twitter and Jajah. Both computers and smartphones will support the new feature.
To start a voice chat session (sounds a little redundant, but that's what it's called), tweeters will type @call@ and then a username. The two-minute time limit might eventually be extended, according to the New York Times.
Jajah is apparently a trustworthy name, as the Times says the company already operates an internet calling service that's used by tens of millions of people.
The Boston-based company Vivox, whose business is similar to Jajah's, recently announced it's working on a similar feature for Facebook. Vivox's service will allow for one-on-one and conference calls, however.
