Social Networking Site To Overtake U.S.

A social networking website has a user base that is growing and might soon have more members than this country does.

Facebook is getting huge. Mark Zuckerberg, the fat-pocketed CEO of FB who's only 25, announced the site now serves 300 million people all over the world.

'It's a large number, but the way we think about this is that we're just getting started on our goal of connecting everyone,' Zuckerberg wrote on his blog. 'We thank all of you for helping us reach the point where we are connecting 300 million people, and we hope to serve you and many more people in increasingly deep and innovative ways in the months and years ahead.'

Last July, FB said it had hit the 250 million user mark, meaning that 50 million people registered on the website in two months. Divvy that up and it comes out to 800,000 new members a day, says CNN.

While Zuckerberg is only in his mid-20s, his product is currently most popular with people 35 years old and up. And while he's got about 260,000 fans, most Facebookers have about 120 online friends.ADNFCR-2087-ID-19364779-ADNFCR
