Certain social networking sites have evidently become a cornerstone of life for millions of internauts, as many can't even wait until they get home to sign in.
Facebook now has more than 65 million users signing in from their mobiles, according to InformationWeek. That's more than three times what the site said it had at the beginning of the year.
Facebook claims that users who visit the site on their smartphones are nearly 50 percent more active on Facebook than members who do not.
There are now 180 mobile operators in 60 countries promoting Facebook mobile products. Nokia has even entered into a partnership with the site and has introduced its Lifecasting with Ovi app that will allow Facebookers to write status updates from the home screens of their phones.
Facebook says it now has more than 250 million users and that 120 million of them visit the site at least once a day. More than five billion minutes are spent on the site per 24 hour period worldwide. Lifecasting with Ovi will first appear on Nokia's new N97 mini, which will cost 450.
